OVERVIEW
The Customer Development Manager is responsible for building and executing business plans with customers that leverage product strategies and marketing plans, maximize the effectiveness of our trade marketing investments, and supports the efforts of the Sales Team in the development of our current and prospective customer relationships.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
Specifically, this individual will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring alignment between consumer & customer marketing strategy by building knowledge internally of customer and channel distinctions that drive richer business planning and by leveraging brand and product strategy through trade planning.
  • Developing customer business plans by channel in a way that leverages brand and product strategies.
  • Establishing, forecasting and tracking customer sales plans & budgets (e.g. merchandising, slotting, co-marketing).
  • Coordinating creation and distribution of all new product launch strategies, goals, and tools, e.g. customer presentations, recommended plan-o-grams and merchandising, trade communication, training materials, samples, educational information, etc.
  • Integrating brand and product objectives with retail channel objectives in the development of national promotions and selling materials (e.g. Earth Day).
  • Collaborating with Sales & Marketing in the development and delivery of account- and channel-specific customer presentations.
  • Planing & executing trade actions around various ad hoc initiatives, e.g. product changes, price changes.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

  • Work with team members to analyze & maximize effectiveness of channel-wide and/or account-specific promotions and provide recommendations for future planning.
  • Collaborate with internal resources to develop & produce sales collateral & promotional toolkits.
  • Collaborate with PR to identify trade marketing/editorial opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Marketing team on customer-specific consumer promotion and advertising programs and execution.
  • Build & maintain complete calendars showing overlay of consumer & customer events, opportunities, plans.
  • Work with syndicated data analyst to develop data structure correlating internal shipments & syndicated data.
  • Develop system to monitor competitive activities & trade marketing trends.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • 8 Years of experience with CPG industry
  • 5+ years of direct sales experience in relevant channels, Grocery channel preferred
  • Experience performing sales analysis for presentations using syndicated data (IRI, Nielsen, SPINs)
  • Experience with space management software and in-store implementation
  • Experience working through broker sales agencies
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and creative skills
  • Project Management experience leading lateral relationships
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels & areas of an organization
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced growth environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Access
  • Must exhibit passion for and willingness to explore the Seventh Generation mission and vision
  • Quantitative skills and financial acumen (MBA preferred)
